Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content
At one point the main character feels desperate to get to the bottom of something incredibly important to her and as such, makes a very foolish and dangerous decision (she lies and sets off on a journey on her own). This is shown as wrong, but is something parents will want to discuss with their children. Similarly, later an adult makes a similar decision for similar reasons (taking his biological daughter with him to leave out of town without telling the grandparents, who have been guardians nearly all of her life). Again, this is portrayed with a feeling of being desperate, but wrong. In telling about his former life, explaining why he went to prison, the father of the main character briefly describes how he became caught up in a drug-smuggling operation. He ends the conversation this with a very strong message to his daughter on the evils of drug use.

Our Thoughts
Similar to 'Treasures of the Snow', another book by this same author, this is an excellent, kingdom-focused book that includes a main character's road to salvation. The story is wonderful and there are important characters that both boys and girls (and adults) can relate to.

Read ReviewTherefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'
