Oh, how we love reviewing books from Christian authors. Almost nothing to be concerned here for Christian parents.
While not necessarily a “concern”, we don’t want parents to know that some of the action and depth may go a bit beyond what you might expect from the cute cover. This reminds us of Green Ember a bit. While there the action is certainly more intense, but so is the cover. Here the action is milder than in that series, but the cover is more subdued as well. Just something to be aware of. If you are unsure, just read a few pages to see if it is a good fit for your younger, less mature readers.
Here are a few minor items just to be aware of:
- Delle (the teenaged chipmunk main character) is slapped and another person is punched by a wicked soldier, which may be just a bit jarring for younger readers.
- Delle asks if she was “drugged”, which parents may need to explain
- A chipmunk calls another “annoying”
