Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content
Very little to share here as far as potentially concerning content. First, while it is very much made with its children audience in mind, the very youngest and most sensitive readers might not be ready for it, something you may not realize from its very short length (worth skimming through if this may be a concern for your reader). There are a couple mentions of comic books in a somewhat positive light, which are in a state we Christians almost surely don’t want to encourage our kids towards. Book mentions that the young boy’s mom passed away in a car accident, which may frighten some readers. Main character tries to fake sick to avoid a bully (doesn’t work). The idea of skipping school is mentioned once. The principal of a Christian school is portrayed as a not very good guy

Our Thoughts
Those who are familiar with this author’s work may be very interested in this title. We previously reviewed “The Chosen”, which was the first title in “The Lost Books” series. That series introduced mature teens and young adults to the Christian allegory based world of Dekker’s adult Red/Green/Black/White series. This book series, the latest collaboration with one of his daughters, does the same for kids. This makes for potential great discussion as there is now an entry point to the same set of Christ-centered material for the whole family. In this book we see elements representing God the Father, Christ, the Holy Spirit, angels, demons, sin and more… all in a very entertaining story. The nice thing here is that the material that may be scary from the older titles (material that takes evil very seriously) is now approachable to a much younger audience. There is a lot here in this short title to drive discussion and it would be a great one to read together (maybe even grabbing the adult or teen/young-adult versions to read yourself in parallel). We see comments like “Oh no, it’s not magic” that is someone “who knows Elyon” (God the Father). Also about demon, “Their true power comes from their lies and your belief in those lies. Know who you are and they are powerless” and “evil can only bother you when you forget who Elyon is and who you are as His son”. The fall and salvation are portrayed in a really cool way in each of these series we mention here. This is certainly one we HIGHLY Recommend.

An interesting view on the entire series that isn’t as high on this one. Worth reading through and considering.
