Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content
Very little to be concerned around here. The main characters set out on a dangerous journey in a cave at the start of the book. After being reprimanded, one returns again after being specifically told not to. This is shown as wrong. The story of 'Hansel and Gretel' is mentioned as a reference in passing, which many versions of can be pretty frightening so probably want to make sure kiddos don't look this up without supervision. Boys refer to returning to 'boring old school', which is not how we want our children to view the opportunity of their education. One more item to mention, that is not a exactly a traditional 'warning'. The first book is extremely short. This can be nice for an early reader, reaching an accomplishment of 'reading a book', but may be frustrating to those looking to dive in on a new story. It feels like more of a 'comic'. If you order, consider buying a set of the whole series or at least a couple of the books.

Our Thoughts
Larry the Cucumber wrote a book!? Fun, light story that is the first in a series from the co-creator of VeggieTales. An excellent scripture is shown at the start and a child prays at an important point in the book. Also, this is a great resource you can use if you would like to teach children about the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and similar findings in Biblical archeology.

In Squirreled Away by Mike Nawrocki, and illustrated by Luke Seguin-Magee, 10-year-old Michael and his friend Justin sneak into the Dead Sea caves near the archaeological dig where Michael's dad is working. Michael finds two 2,000-year-old squirrels petrified in sea salt. Hijinks ensure as Michael tries to bring them back to the U.S. hidden in his backpack. What Michael thinks are just cool souvenirs may turn out to be something much more!

Read ReviewChildren, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother'—which is the first commandment with a promise—'so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.' Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
— Ephesians 6:1-4
