A few times the comedy veers into the category we do not enjoy seeing where school is joked about being a drag. This includes comments like, “someone’s stealing all the fun out of life, much like our math teacher.” While this is common in books, movies and shows it is unfortunate. In a similar light, there are scattered single instances of words like “shut-up”, “jerk”, “blockhead”, “not too bright”, “Dr. Weirdo”. There are a couple of drawings that border on being a bit strange and one that shows a few skeletons, but these are meant to be funny, now scary. At the amusement park the name is “hurling rivers”, you see a haunted house, and there is a game called “dunk the nun”. Again, attempting to be funny, but unfortunate.

This is a funny book that is a light read with pictures on nearly every page. For a funny title, there is lower amount of concerning content to know about and weigh for your child than most and it is by far the exception to the mostly clean comedy. This is also a mystery with clues given as you read. All in all, this should appeal to a lot of kids. As a bonus there are few fun activities at the end of the book as well.
