Our Thoughts
We don’t review many books in the “horror for children” category. Why? Because to us there should be no question as to whether a Christian parent should allow Christian children to read this type of material. It is cut and dry. We are told to be holy (i.e., separate for a purpose) and have nothing to do with the darkness of this world. So we tend to focus on books where it is not clear. What drew us to this book was the fact, unlike a lot of “kids horror”, the cover to this one could indicate a few different possibilities. We wondered if this was potentially a mystery revolving around a place that initially just looks spooky. Sadly this is not the case and so we wanted to post this short review to help ensure other Christian parents don’t make this mistake and introduce dark content unintentionally into their home. This is in fact a horror book aimed at children. Honestly, just the main character being a “tween aspiring horror movie actress” is enough to send Christians away. We have decided to steward our time better by using it on other books. We pray you will do the same.
Plot SummaryNote: This information is typically from the publisher.Use with caution
A tween aspiring horror movie actress pairs up with the twin children of her favorite director to defeat zombifying octopus-like creatures! Halle dreams of becoming a scream queen. She practices her loudest scream every day and has learned a lot from studying the horror movies of her favorite director, Maximus Price. Maximus lives just outside town, and when the chance to go to his home arises, Halle grabs it with both hands. She doesn't realize that real life horrors await her at Price Manor. Paisley and Argyle, Maximus's twin children, think that the creepy, squid-like creatures that have attached themselves to the faces of the manor's staff, putting them in a zombie-like stupor, are just another one of their prankster dad's tricks. When Halle arrives and is attacked by one of the creatures, she meets the twins and assures them that this is no joke. The three kids will have to work together using all of their unusual talents to defeat the monsters--and maybe even save the world.

But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
