Mr. Wolf's Class
VERDICT: Avoid

Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content
The most important thing to know about this book is a warning about what comes later in the series. This is yet another example of what we are seeing more and more, where and author starts a series and then somewhere down the road in another title introduces a new aspect of concerning content, in this case a non-biblical view of sexuality and/or gender. In this series, eventually we see a comment by an adult to their child to go ask their ‘other mom’ about something. This is during a party and the young reader is left to wonder if this is the case of a step-mom or the case of a gay relationship. Then in an even later title, the mystery is revealed and we are told with great excitement from the child that the two moms are getting marries (multiple issues with this statement obviously). Even beyond this main area of concern, in this very short title there is enough negative content and an almost complete absence of ‘good’ content, making this an easy choice to avoid. The worst of the characters is grumpy, very rude (e.g., saying ‘boys are stupid’) and immoral (says ‘sorry’, but we see a thought bubble saying, ‘sorry you couldn’t take a joke’). Another character similarly shows no responsibility as they say, ‘sheesh, I was only joking’. This type of internal dialog is something Christian parents should work hard to eliminate in our children, as God examines the heart, so content like this is certainly something to avoid. There is also a stretch of the book where one kid goes around doing a survey asking everyone if they like ‘farts’ or ice cream more. This is repeated multiple times.
VerdictAvoid
Our Thoughts
This one is a clear avoid. The current book has nothing redeeming about it and the future books introduce a new level of concerning content for Christians.

Mr. Wolf has just started teaching at Hazelwood Elementary. He wants the first day of school to go well, but he's got his hands full with his new class. Some of his students include: Margot, who is new in town and is trying to make friends. Sampson, who brought something special to school for show-and-tell. Aziza, who just wants everyone to be quiet and do their work. And Penny, who is VERY sleepy because she has a new baby brother at home, goes missing! This delightful new series captures the everyday -- and unexpected -- ups and downs of a fourth-grade classroom.

Very solid review of the whole series. See more detail on the primary concern we show above.
Only real concern here is that their thoughts on the positive side of the book shown at first may cause many to miss out on the later verdict to avoid the book series.

Read ReviewTherefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
