All very minor here. At the start of the book the family’s bed falls through the second story floor. This is meant to be comical, but we could see how some readers may not sleep as well after hearing this is possible : ) There is a single grumpy neighbor character, but they are the exception. Mercy (the pig) comes to the neighbor’s window late at night and Baby (the neighbor) mistakes her for a monster.

Our Thoughts
Short and funny. Great pictures. Sweet characters. This is a good clean series for young kiddos listeners and early readers. This is a series with multiple books, including a couple of spin-offs that follow some of the really interesting side characters.

To Mr. and Mrs. Watson, Mercy is not just a pig – she's a porcine wonder. And to the portly and good-natured Mercy, the Watsons are an excellent source of buttered toast, not to mention that buttery-toasty feeling she gets when she snuggles into bed with them. This is not, however, so good for the Watsons' bed. BOOM! CRACK! As the bed and its occupants slowly sink through the floor, Mercy escapes in a flash – 'to alert the fire department,' her owners assure themselves. But could Mercy possibly have another emergency in mind – like a sudden craving for their neighbors' sugar cookies? Welcome to the wry and endearing world of Mercy Watson – an ebullient new character for early chapter-book readers in a series that's destined to be a classic.

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm. Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things. A good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.
