Lights, Camera, Cook! – Next Best Junior Chef 1

Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content
One character is not allowed to have any junk food at home and they respond by having as much of it as they can while at the competition. Producers try and (mostly) fail to cause a rift in order to make the show more interesting. There are a few mentions of doing something for luck (crossing fingers, rubbing a charm on a necklace). Finally, this may be one to skip if you don’t want your child to ask to watch cooking competition shows, as this will almost certainly lead to a desire for that (although this book is a good “no screen time” alternative).

Our Thoughts
This story revolves around four kids taking part in a cooking competition show. It has very little concerning content and makes for a fun family read. Even adults will find it interesting to see some of the “movie magic” sneak peeks that the author reveals about how these shows are made. The characters are all relatively nice and grow closer as the competition goes on.

A zesty series for fans of kids' cooking competitions! It's “lights, camera, cook!” for four tween contestants—energetic Tate, charming Rae, worldly Caroline, and hyper-competitive Oliver—who are all about to enter a televised cooking competition. What will the kids cook up? How will they all get along on- and off-camera? Which junior chef will have the grit—and maybe the grits—to make it through each challenge? And which junior chef will have to hang their apron up for good? Bonus: Includes real cooking techniques for the aspiring young chef!

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
