Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content

There is one main scene to know about. It is all meant to be over-the-top and funny, but there is a point where a doctor’s backstory is being told. He meets an older man who is shown to be not all there mentally. The man is telling this over-exaggerated story of the time people showed up in a flying contraption appeared in the sky (the reader is told it was actually a helicopter). At this point the man says, “Hoping to chase them out of town, the local mystic cursed their flying contraption with rabies!” He then refers to the helicopter as “their flying devil”. Even stranger, an image of the helicopter is shown shortly after and it has large teeth and bites the doctor. The image is such that the youngest or most sensitive readers may be a bit disturbed (it was on page 120 in the copy we were reading if you want to see). The not-all-there man then tells the doctor who was bitten he is now a “were-copter” (as in werewolf) and that means the curse is now running through him. Again, this is all treated lightly, but good to know so you can judge for your children. This whole part is out of place with the rest of the book that is very clean. --- There is a very small amount of bathroom type humor. For example, at one point it mentions a “poop emoji” (nothing is shown).
