Horse Gentler in Training - Winnie the Early Years
VERDICT: HIGHLY Recommended
Concern Level: Low

Concern LevelLow
Concerning & Potentially Concerning Content
The only real point of concern comes when Winnie lies about something at a time when she is angry at a very unlikable boy. Fortunately, this is shown as wrong and she feels the consequence of it. As a final note, if you plan to transition and read the older kid series (see below) after this title, know that a tragedy happens between the two series and is a focus in the older books (see the review on this site for the first book in that series for more details.

Our Thoughts
You know you are in a good spot when you open a book to find a verse on the first page. It begins with a focus on God as creator and ends with multiple references to the fact that nothing is impossible with God. There is a great family dynamic. Prayer is shown in a good light and the mother and daughter both have a habit of speaking out loud to God at random times. This is a short book with pictures that is great for early readers. This is a newer series that goes back into the life of the characters from the older kid series “Winnie the Horse Gentler”. The first book of that series is also reviewed on this site if you are interested for your older readers.
Plot SummaryNote: This information is typically from the publisher.

Read ReviewWhile often helpful, always be a bit cautious of using parent reviews that can be posted by anyone.
Read ReviewYour word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.
