We will start by pointing out that the publisher’s summary mentions Ivy & Bean in a positive light, but that is a book series we have as a strong Avoid for Christian parents. See our review on that title for more.
There is very little here to be concerned of. We will share the few things we found below:
- In a build up to a really nice turnaround, Gracie is pretty unkind to and about another girl who is rude to her. Gracie eye-rolls in response to something she says.
- Gracie sneaks into her sister’s room, intentionally waiting until she is gone to take back an item that she had borrowed.
- When Gracie’s sister has to leave earlier than she does for school, Gracie comments, “Middle School, no wonder everyone hates it”.
- There is a moment when Gracie is upset that she intentionally pretends not to hear her mom calling for her.
- Dad wishes Gracie “luck”
- The book includes the term “farts” and “stupid”.
- Someone tells Gracie she cannot know for sure she will win a competition because she’s not psychic.
